Laser Eye Surgery Coverage?

Does your health insurance plan offer you coverage for laser eye surgery? While some insurance companies deem it cosmetic (not medically necessary), others will include it in your policy. For instance, you may be covered if you are having eye surgery for refractive errors resulting from an injury. You may even be covered if you cannot wear glasses or contacts due to a physical limitation.

It’s always a good idea to pose these types of questions when deciding on a supplemental health insurance plan. Make sure to read your manual; get familiar with your plan in order to be well aware of the extent of your coverage should a health issue occur.
